Drowning in Blue captures a suspended state of tension, helplessness, and entrapment. Centered on a gyroid structure once associated with mathematical elegance and scientific promise, the work reframes it as a suffocating form—no longer a symbol of progress, but of constraint.
The piece reflects four years at Fulbright, spent navigating the expectation to reconcile science with art, logic with intuition. Rather than computational precision, the work emerged through trial and error, emotional resistance, and manual modeling. Shaped without code, the gyroid becomes a record of frustration and misalignment, expressing the experience of adopting unfamiliar tools and languages while remaining marked by an inescapable accent—both technical and personal.
